Anthea Turner has enjoyed a media career of over 20 years which has taken her from BBC local radio presenting road traffic reports in her native Stoke to becoming one of the best-known faces of broadcasting in the UK, hosting both top ratings entertainment shows and current affairs programmes. Anthea’s move into television was through Sky Channel presenting live music programmes from 1986 to 1989. In 1992 she became the 19th presenter of BBC One’s Blue Peter.

In June 1994 Anthea joined GMTV alongside Eamonn Holmes to anchor the 7.00am to 9.00am time slot. From 1994 to 1996 Anthea was the inaugural presenter of the National Lottery Live programme, which quickly became the BBC’s highest rated entertainment programme.

In 1995 she signed a two-year deal with Carlton Television to present a number of major light entertainment shows on ITV. In February 1996 she won the Showbusiness Personality of the Year awarded by the Variety Club of Great Britain and was voted BBC Personality of the Year by the television industry the following month. In early 1997 Anthea presented the series Pet Power and a one-off special entitled Change Your Life Forever. Anthea went on to present the critically acclaimed Turner Round the World before hosting a new series of Wish You Were Here in 1997 and presenting the National Lottery Live third birthday show. In March 1998 she presented The National Lottery Big Ticket Show with Patrick Kielty for a 16-week series. Anthea completed her second series of Wish You Were Here in 1999.

In July 2000 Anthea and her sister presented a Saturday night show for the BBC called Your Kids Are in Charge. October saw the release of her autobiography Fools Rush In. The following year Anthea signed a major contract with Carlton to front Taste Today with Anthea & Mark, part of a ground-breaking joint venture between Sainsbury and Carlton. Most recently Anthea has returned to morning television fronting an IVF feature called Baby Makers for This Morning. Anthea’s latest series for the BBC is entitled Anthea Turner’s Perfect Housewife.
